![]() Marc E. Smith, D.V.M. Dr. Marc Smith has been a practicing veterinarian 10 years. He is a Middle Tennessee native and a graduate of Montgomery Bell Academy, 1988; and The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine, 1998. Upon graduation, Dr. Smith entered into private practice in Fairview, TN. at the White Oak Animal Hospital. He practiced in Fairview for over 7 years before moving to Franklin. He opened Natchez Trace Veterinary Services in the Fall of 2005 as a full service hospital offering both equine and small animal services. Dr. Smith continues his veterinary education today by attending the Chi Institute of Chinese Medicine in Reddick, FLA. He recieved his veterinary acupuncture certification in December 2007 and is currently working on his herbology certification. Dr. Smith has experience working with a variety of animals such as dogs, cats, pigs, sheep, goats, llamas, horses, and cows. He has provided educational articles considered for publication by the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Smith has been an animal enthusiast since childhood and has strong convictions, not only about the welfare of all animals, but also about the many lessons and contributions animals provide. When he is away from NTVS, Dr. Smith enjoys athletics and fishing. He spends family time with Cherie, his wife, and daughters Anna, and Lilly. | |
Joanna Walker - Veterinary Technician Joanna Walker joined Natchez Trace Veterinary Services in May of 2006 as a licensed veterinary technician with four years of experience. She graduated from Columbia State Community College in 2002 with an associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology. Her duties include but are not limited to small animal vaccinations, hematology, cytology, small animal anesthesia, radiology, and nursing care. Joanna owns two dogs, two cats and two horses. In her free time she enjoys showing her horses in Ranch horse competition and Foundation Quarter Horse competition. | ![]() |
Scarlett McMeen - Large Animal Technician Scarlett joined Dr. Marc Smith in September 2002. Her responsibilities are, but not limited to, equine dentistry, large animal technician, educating clients and assisting in managing the clinic. She is a native of Dickson County where she still resides. In 1999, she graduated cum lauda from the University of Tennessee at Martin receiving her bachelor’s degree in animal science. Scarlett then moved to Louisiana and earned her master’s degree in equine reproduction and endocrinology from Louisiana State University. After joining Dr. Smith, Scarlett attended the American School of Equine Dentistry in Ocala, FL. There she worked under Dr. Raymond Hyde, mastering the art of advanced equine dentistry. Scarlett and her husband Joseph have one son and three horses and enjoy showing quarter horses in all around events. They also have a Pembroke Welch Corgi, Aggie, who Scarlett trains in agility and occasionally competes in trials. | ![]() |
Stacy Gorski - Receptionist Stacy joined Natchez Trace Veterinary Services in March 2007. Stacy's responsibilities include, but are not limited to answering the phone, greeting clients and their pets, handling of all clerical tasks, and assisting with external marketing needs of the clinic. She enjoys helping out doctor Smith, Scarlett and Joanna as well. Stacy and her husband Scott have 2 sons; Jordan and Jacob. Stacy and her family are avid outdoor enthusiasts. In her spare time she enjoys gardening, cooking outdoors and camping. Stacy and Scott have 2 cats and 2 dogs. | ![]() |
